I was diagnoised with stage III Ovarian cancer in October of 2013. Surgery and chemotherapy afterwards. In January of 2014, I was informed that I had the PALB2 gene mutaiton. This gene mutation partners with the BRCA 2 gene mutation and therby increases risk of breast, pancreatic, colon and ovarian cancers.
My geneticist , who specializes in this gene mutation, has encouraged me to try to find others who have this same gene mutation with the same variant (p.Y1183) because chances are we are related. If we can find the common family history line of orgin, we might possibly be albe to then move forward and be able to warn others in the family line of their possible risk of the gene mutation.
I've been blessed thus far to continue to be a previvor, but it would be so great to be able to inform others of their possible risk. If anyone has suggestions as to how to go about this, I would appreciate input.
